Mike Fresta (Actor/Writer)

MIKE FRESTA
(Actor/Writer)

Other than producing original films, Blank Productions is also dedicated to promoting local talent in the New York/New Jersey area. This week we'd like to promote Mike Fresta from Pitman, New Jersey! Mike Fresta is an Actor/Writer who graduated from Montclair State University with a degree in the Theatre Arts. Having worked with Mike on a number of projects, director Ryan Polukord can say that his talents as a writer and actor exceed all expectations. Ryan has directed Mike in his film Danger Zone and Mike has directed Ryan in his most recent play Red All Over.

Mike Fresta has stayed active in the performing arts for a number of years now. Mike was selected to star and write in Robert Woodruff's Past Tense (2010). The following year he premiered his one-act Switch 96 at the University. He wrapped up his senior year at Montclair State University as one of the head writers of 2011's award winning play, Dis Connect where he also played a supporting role. Soon after graduation, his one act Switch 96 was picked up for Manhattan Repertory Theatre's Winter One Act Competition. That same year, Mike completed a new stage play entitled Red All Over, which was selected for the Winter Madness Festival at Roy Arias Studio in Times Square. After the success of Switch 96, the show was requested to be shown at the Manhattan Repertory Theatre the following month. In addition, Mike played a handful of hysterical supporting characters in both Switch 96 and Red All Over. He has since starred in a number of short films including Ryan Polukord’s horror Danger Zone.

Mike hopes to continue his theatrical work in Philadelphia where he is searching for new venues for his full-length play The Killing Bros. He is currently writing the 8th chapter of his zombie epic “Miles” and also working on a new comedy entitled “Inversion.”

Blank Productions would like to say, "GOOD LUCK MIKE on your journey to success!" CAMP 139 Update

(Catherine O. Garcia as Stephanie in CAMP 139)

In the Summer of 2009, Ryan Polukord began production on a low budget horror film called CAMP 139. The film features three young girls who spend the night at an old campground in north New Jersey. After setting up camp, they stumble upon a dead body a few miles away from the camp site. While waiting for the police to arrive, night falls, and they are haunted by the vengeful spirit of the dead man who won't let them escape Camp 139. The film stars Amanda Goscinski, Lia Sprechini, Catherine O. Garcia, and Justin McCarthy (with music by Gonzalo Valencia).

CAMP 139 was screened at many film festivals in the New Jersey area. The film was an official selection at the GARDEN STATE FILM FESTIVAL (2010) and landed two nominations at the DOWN BEACH FILM FESTIVAL in Atlantic City (2011). Lia Sprechini was nominated Best Actress and the film won Best New Jersey Based Short. After the award, CAMP 139 received some recognition in the press.

It has been almost 2 years since CAMP 139 was produced. Ryan has kept the film in the vault. Only the 2009 trailer can be found on youtube (click the photo below to watch the trailer). One of the most frequently asked questions Ryan receives about CAMP 139 is, "Where can I watch it?" The reason Ryan has kept CAMP 139 hidden away is because he has other plans for it.

Around the time Ryan received the idea for DANGER ZONE, he had been revising the CAMP 139 script. Ryan has intentions on remaking the film in the future. The remake of CAMP 139 has joined the list of future projects for BLANK PRODUCTIONS but will not start any time soon. With BLACKOUT and DEATH MAN on their way, CAMP 139 will have to wait. However, Ryan is considering marketing the original CAMP 139 film on IndieFlix in the months to come.

Introduction

Ryan Polukord is an independent filmmaker in the New York/New Jersey area. His films have been shown at known film festivals and will continue to screen at festivals world wide in the near future. In May 2012, Ryan completed his science fiction horror film DANGER ZONE, which was premiered at the Calcia Auditorium at Montclair State University (where Ryan earned his B.F.A in Filmmaking). After much success with Danger Zone, Ryan decided to push his own production company into gear.

BLANK PRODUCTIONS was created to promote Ryan's original films and to seek out a wider audience. Blank Productions will produce original work, screen them at festivals, and distribute them world wide. In the process of creating new films of all genres, Blank Productions will create partnerships with similar institutions and promote local talent in the New York/New Jersey area.

Ryan is the creator of Blank Productions and runs the company on his own for now. Other than taking on the roles of Producer, Director, Writer, and Editor on the creative end, Ryan dedicates his time to marketing his films, producing promotional content, and handling the distribution process. Danger Zone Update and More

(Snap Shot from Production- Actress Lia Sprechini)

As most of you know, Ryan Polukord's DANGER ZONE has been receiving a lot of attention these past few months. It was premiered at the Calcia Auditorium at Montclair State University and was written about in the local newspapers. But what is next for Ryan? And more importantly, what's next for Danger Zone?

Since November 2011, Ryan has continued to move forward in the film business. He completed Danger Zone in May 2012 while assistant directing and co-producing two short films: EXIT (written, directed, and produced by Monika Kolodziej) and SOMETHING OLD (written, directed, and produced by Nicole Aranya). He even found the time to produce and direct a fourth short film with Lia Sprechini called BUMMED OUT. After the premiere of Danger Zone, Ryan joined the team at Kirschenbaum Productions in New York City as an intern on a feature length documentary and is happy to say he's currently still with them. Meanwhile, he launched BLANK PRODUCTIONS back in New Jersey. Ryan has kept busy and expect much more from him in the months to come.

As for Danger Zone, Ryan has spent a good amount of time in the editing room. He took the notes and feedback he needed from the premiere and began re-cutting the film. Danger Zone is in the final stages of a new edit that will be screened in Film Festivals to come.

One of the most frequently asked questions is, "What about Blackout?" When Ryan started his kickstarter campaign in November 2011, he advertised both Danger Zone and Blackout as one- "A Double Horror Feature Film". Blackout is still in the pre-production phase and Ryan is just itching to produce it. Ryan plans to begin production on Blackout in mid-September 2012.
